The Oak Grove School District is saddened to share the news of the passing of Rita Ledesma on January 15, 2022. Rita was a long-time supporter of Oak Grove, a classified employee, and parent. She brought advocacy to our Latino students in the 1970's. With her leadership, Las Madres en Accion represented the interests and needs of Oak Grove's Hispanic community. She was the first district community Liaison in Oak Grove and helped form the first bilingual education program at Baldwin. In 1999 the Board of Trustees named a new school after her. Oak Grove proudly honors her legacy at the Rita Ledesma Elementary School. Our condolences go out to the Ledesma family. We are honored to have known Rita and are grateful to her for nurturing a positive environment that carries forward in our District.
